After a successful and memorable four years of varsity play with Green Hope women’s lacrosse, senior captain Claire Dailey (‘26) celebrated her 200th career goal and 300th career point late in her final season with the Falcons. The team’s 2026 season came to an end on Friday, May 15, in a close loss against West Forsyth High School in the second round of the North Carolina 8A playoffs. Despite the loss, Dailey reflected positively on her season and all of the memories that came with it, saying, “Even when we lost, we were still just having a lot of fun, hearing each other talk and sing and everything.”
After 80 total games for the Green Hope team, Dailey ended her career with 210 goals and 107 assists, combining for 317 points. Her primary positions were attack and midfield, solidifying her role as a leader and role model on the field. Averaging an impressive 3.6 goals per game in her senior season, Dailey made her mark in the last games of her high school career with a 66.1% shot rate and 1.3 assists per game. These numbers represent her commitment to the team and an initiative for growth and success throughout her career.
Dailey began playing lacrosse ten years ago, and stayed committed to the sport because of her love for spending time with a team and growing as an individual. Dailey offered some advice for her teammates and fellow athletes, sharing that her best recommendation is to “keep having fun, because that’s the most important part of playing any sport.” She continued on to say, “As long as you’re having fun, then you’ll achieve those goals that you may have set.”
This season, her sister Violet (‘29) joined the varsity team as a freshman, following in Claire’s footsteps with 43 goals and seven assists, hoping in her future seasons to exemplify the standards of leadership that were set by her older sister. Violet and the other younger members of the team, having played with Claire, will strive to be good teammates and support each other in the coming seasons.
Upon reaching the 200 goal milestone, Dailey credited her teammates and coaches with the encouragement of a supportive environment that allows athletes to achieve goals like this. “We all have a really good team chemistry, and everyone’s always helping to get those achievements,” she shared. Positive environments and reliable teammates make aiming to exceed expectations plausible in any situation, but especially for Dailey’s Green Hope lacrosse career.
