As the regular season fades, and the playoff season approaches, Green Hope’s golf team is celebrating a major achievement as two of its players, Elias Taylor (‘27) and Will Burgwyn (‘27) have achieved All-Conference. This achievement highlights the players’ consistent scoring throughout the season, along with their dedication to the team.
Throughout the season, the Falcons’ golf team found great success on the course, with both Taylor and Burgwyn consistently scoring in the 70s. Their performances were most dominant in their matches at both Prestonwood and 12 Oaks golf courses.
The GH Falcon sat down with the two to discuss their thoughts on the season and what they did to achieve one of this year’s few All-Conference awards. Taylor spoke about his performance last year and how he had little to no chance for All-Conference previously, “I wasn’t anywhere close to making an offer like this last year”. Along with his previous performance, Taylor also highlighted what helped his game the most this season, “I feel just my attitude on the course, just being calm, not letting what happens get to me”. Taylor further went on to talk about how his father has been a big part of his game this season, “My dad, he’s my coach, and he has helped me the most this season”. Along with Taylor, Burgwyn had similar opinions, saying, “This award for me is a show of my hard work, winning two years in a row”. This comes after 4 years of hard work, and what he attests to his success, “Daily practice”.
These awards come as the Falcons approach playoff season and are gearing up to play at Bentwood Country Club this Tuesday, May 12, for this year’s Greater Neuse River Conference Golf Championships. Taylor and Burgwyn are taking some much-needed rest as the team’s seniors begin their playoff run in high hopes, thanks to the hard work of the team this season.
