Trips in the Triangle: Spooky season edition

The autumn season brings not only cooler temperatures and earlier sunsets but also many events throughout our area. In this article, the GH Falcon has compiled a list of events happening in our community to help you make this October memorable.


2022 North Carolina State Fair

Price: $13+

The annual North Carolina State Fair began on October 13th and runs until the 23rd. With over hundreds of rides, vendors, and activities, the fair is the place to be if you’re looking for consistent entertainment and fun. Tickets start at $13 for people ages 13 and up and gates open at 9 am and run until 11 pm.

Movies on the Lawn Halloween Double-Feature: Dorothea Dix Park

Price: Free
Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh is holding a movie night on October 29th. The event will include Halloween-themed activities, a costume parade, and a Halloween double-feature of the movies Hocus Pocus (PG) and Scream (R). If you get hungry, food trucks will also be available. The free event begins at 6 pm and will take place at the Flowers Field of the park. Guests are encouraged to come dressed in a costume, so be afraid to let out your inner monster!

 

Haunted Farm: Phillips Farm of Cary
Price: $25-$27
Every Friday and Saturday night until October 29th, Phillips Farm of Cary will be hosting its Haunted Farm. Attendees can choose from one of three haunted attractions: The Rebellion Trail, Big Top Terror, or The Gore House. Tickets are $25 for those paying with cash and $27 for people paying with a card. The Haunted Farm is open from 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm and is located on Good Hope Church Road. For those not interested in the scare, Phillips Farms also has other activities during the day including corn mazes, wagon rides, and a pumpkin patch.

Clayton Fear Farms

Price: $25

Clayton Fear Farm is a haunted Halloween scream park that features multiple hair-raising attractions including several haunted houses and a haunted hayride. The farm advises guests to dress comfortably and to “expect the unexpected.” Times and tickets can be found on their website.

 

Xtreme Haunt: Xtreme Park Adventures
Price: $25
Located on Wake Forest Road in Durham, Xtreme Haunt provides six different attractions that put you in the middle of the action. From fighting off zombies to having to find your way through a pitch-black maze, the attractions at this park will be sure to have you on edge the entire time. Attractions are open from 7 pm to 11 pm and guests can repeat any activity as many times as they please. Xtreme Haunt is open October 21-22 and October 28-29. Tickets can be purchased through Xtreme Haunt’s website, but keep in mind that availability is limited!
