After a season filled with energy, athleticism and steady improvement, Wilbert Hennegan (‘28) has earned All-Conference honors, a recognition that highlights both his impact on the court and the respect he has earned from teammates and coaches.
Hennegan finished the season averaging 8.1 points, four rebounds and one block per game, contributing on both ends of the floor with his athletic ability and effort.
Teammates say Hennegan brings a unique presence to the court and the locker room. Alexi Sursock described him as “very passionate,” noting the energy he brings every time he steps onto the floor. Jaden Ebenuwah (‘28) said Hennegan’s energy spreads throughout the team. “Wilbert’s energy is very contagious and like no other,” Ebenuwah said. “It helps push everyone to play harder.” Meanwhile, Ian Hazard (‘28) highlighted Hennegan’s physical abilities and determination, saying he is “very athletic and always brings full effort.”
Despite the recognition that comes with making All-Conference, Hennegan stays focused on the bigger picture. When asked about the honor, Hennegan said it meant “Absolutely nothing, it’s just the first step to success.” One area where Hennegan saw significant improvement this season was in his physical development and speed, which helped him become more effective on both offense and defense. “The physical aspect and speed,” he said when asked what part of his game improved the most.
Hennegan also credited teammates and coaches for helping him reach this milestone, specifically pointing to Korell Griffin (‘27) and Coach Howell for their support and guidance throughout the season.
One moment that stood out for him came during a game against Willow Spring High School, when he delivered back-to-back dunks that energized the team.
While the All-Conference recognition is a major accomplishment, Hennegan already has his sights set on bigger goals for next season. “State chip and All-conference again,” he said. With his athleticism, effort, and leadership, Hennegan hopes to continue building on this season’s success and help lead his team toward a championship run.
