Around the Triangle, there are many donut places for residents to try throughout all hours of the day.

What pairs best with the holiday season? A warm fried dough ball glazed, powdered and stuffed with filling, topped with sprinkles to make your day! The GH Falcon brings to you some local donut shops that will have you dreaming of round dough, whether it be a cute cafe, a quick pit stop or party favors, these places have the most unique and yummy donuts.

Mochinut, unlike the traditional donut, offers a Japanese-style donut in Cary, North Carolina. This establishment is open 7 days a week from 11 in the morning to 8 at night with a unique fusion of American, Japanese and Korean foods. Mochinut offers a variety of flavored donuts that rotate weekly. Mochi donuts are a cross between American-style pastry and the Japanese rice cake commonly referred to in Japan as Mochitsuki, Mochitsuki is made from rice and mochigome to create this gummy dough-like texture, making Mochinut special. Mochinut also offers a selection of Korean cheese hotdogs and cheese sticks in case you’re in the mood for something savory. These are fried in cheese, batter and potatoes but at Mochinut similar to their selection of donut flavors these hotdogs come in a variety of “trendy” flavors such as Flamin’ Hot Cheeto, crunchy cereal and more.

Big Dom’s Bagel shop in the heart of downtown Cary on Chatham Street offers a cozy environment for breakfast and an early sweet treat. Big Dom’s is more known for its New York-style bagels but they have one special lesser-known item and if you get there early enough you may be able to grab it: their B’Donut. Fresh every day,  Big Dom’s will have you coming for a good bagel and leaving with a delicious donut and is open Wednesday-Sunday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Rise is located in Park West Village and offers more locations throughout the Triangle. Rise is open every day from 7 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon and even offers catering services.

Baker’s Dozen Donut Deli & Delights located in South Hills Mall and Plaza was established in 2003 by couple Keith and Kim. Prior to starting their donut shop, which would soon turn into an empire of donuts and lunch spots across the Triangle, Keith was an engineer and Kim was a nurse. Wanting to diverge from their original professions Kim and Keith wanted to start something new and fun together. Offering many cool and unique “drinkables,” deli items, pastries and their hand-made “custom creation” donuts. Open from 6:30 in the morning to 6:30 in the evening every day you can be sure to grab a donut, pastry or lunch daily.
