The 2026 NBA draft class is arguably one of the best draft classes of all time. This class is also dominated by freshmen, so dominant that only 71 of college basketball’s best players declared, which makes this class the fewest entrants ever.
1. AJ Dybantsa (F) BYU
AJ Dybansta is considered one of the best prospects of all time. The Freshman at BYU was the college basketball leading scorer, averaging 25.5 points. His skill and athleticism are one of a kind, especially for his height at 6’9”. Dybansta is a very all-around player with his shooting, perimeter defense, finishing ability and ability to find an open shot. He also had a great March Madness performance, recording 35 points and 10 rebounds despite the 1st round exit.
2. Darius Acuff Jr. (G) Arkansas
Darius Acuff jr was one of the most dominant players this past season. Acuff went to high school at IMG Academy, which is known as one of the best high school basketball programs ever. Acuff didn’t start getting national attention at Arkansas until the 2nd half of the season, especially after his historic 49-point game against Tennessee. Acuff has great size in being 6’3”, 190lbs, and knows how to use his body in creating a ton of space and finding his shot in multiple ways.
3. Darryn Peterson (G) Kansas
Darryn Peterson had the strongest start to the season of anyone on this list, and early on was looking like the best prospect by far. Unfortunately for Peterson, he dealt with a lot of injuries throughout the season, diminishing his stock from what it once was. Darryn Peterson has really perfected his mid-range shot and certified himself as one of the best shot creators of all time in college basketball. Peterson has notable NBA comparisons to a young Kobe Bryant and Devin Booker, who are also known to be terrific shot creators.
4. Cameron Boozer (F) Duke
Cameron Boozer is viewed as one of the safest and most complete prospects in the draft class. The Duke freshman had an outstanding season, averaging 21.8 points and 11.2 rebounds per game while leading Duke on both ends of the floor. At 6’9”, Boozer has a strong frame and elite basketball IQ that allows him to dominate inside while also stretching the floor with his shooting ability. He is a very versatile player with his rebounding, passing, post-scoring and defensive instincts. Boozer also stepped up during March Madness, recording multiple double-doubles and proving he can perform under pressure against top competition.
5. Caleb Wilson (F) UNC
Caleb Wilson is one of the most athletic and exciting prospects in college basketball. The UNC freshman impressed scouts with his ability to impact the game on both offense and defense, averaging 17.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game. At 6’10”, Wilson’s length and quickness make him a difficult matchup, especially in transition and around the rim. He is known for his shot-blocking, finishing ability, perimeter defense and his improving offensive skill set. Wilson also had several big performances late in the season, showing flashes of star potential and boosting his draft stock heading into the NBA Draft.
Conclusion
Overall, this draft class has the potential to become one of the strongest in recent years. With elite prospects like AJ Dybantsa, Darius Acuff and Darryn Peterson leading the way, the future of the NBA looks very bright. Each player brings a unique skill set and superstar potential that could make a major impact at the next level for years to come.
