In a battle with the top ranked women’s lacrosse team in the conference, Lilah Dailey (‘24) scores her career-high sixth goal of the game. Next year, Dailey will continue her lacrosse career at Campbell University.
Dailey sat down with the GH Falcon to discuss her journey from elementary school lacrosse player to future D1 star.
When did you begin playing lacrosse?
I began playing in fifth grade. After I quit gymnastics, my little sister was already playing lacrosse, so I got into it and started playing with her. At that time we practiced 2-3 times a week and then we would have 2 or 3 tournaments over the summer and fall.
How did COVID impact your development?
I think it had a positive impact. It allowed me more time to practice and get better, and then when I got back into travel team it was a lot better. I also switched teams after COVID which helped as well.
What did your training schedule look like this past summer?
Two days a week I would go to Charlotte to play with my travel team, and two days a week I would lift. I had four tournaments this summer, normally we would play one game on Friday, two games on Saturday, and then play one or two games on Sunday.
What did your recruiting process look like?
My recruiting process was really rough to be honest, there was a lot of pressure from [the people around me] to go fast paced, but I wanted to go at a slower pace. Towards the end of the recruiting process it began to go better. I ended up visiting Cincinnati, Old Dominion, Campbell, and then other D2 and D3 schools.
How did Campbell find you?
They came to one of my travel games over the summer to see me play, and they invited me on a visit. After that, they watched me play one more time and then gave me an offer.
What made you choose Campbell?
It is close to home and I preferred to stay close, and I also liked the environment around the team and the campus.
Before Dailey goes off to college, she is looking forward to playing one last year and ending her Green Hope journey surrounded with her teammates.
