In this cinematic adaptation of Agatha Christie’s bestselling novel, Death on the Nile,  a newlywed couple invites several relatives and close friends on their honeymoon: a luxurious boat cruise along the Nile River. However, this carefree trip is derailed when an ex-lover of the groom shows up uninvited. Tensions rise, and without spoiling, several murders occur. As they travel along the river, the renowned detective Hercule Poirot played by actor Kenneth Branagh has to figure out who the killer is.

I really enjoyed the plot twists in this movie, as they were completely unexpected and caused several major shifts in the storyline. The acting performances were very strong and the cinematography of Egypt and the Nile River was very well done aiding the plot. Overall, the characters were well-developed and it is almost impossible to predict the killer throughout the movie. The reveal at the end was thrilling, and the movie was engaging even for someone who isn’t generally interested in murder mysteries.

Overall, I would rate this movie an 8/10. It was very well designed but could have been scripted differently at some points to make it better. However, it is appealing to many audiences and those who like Netflix’s “Murder Mystery” will greatly enjoy this movie as well.
