Color Guard closed out their season with third place breaking eighty points for their team. Closing a season can be bittersweet for people especially after spending long laborious hours after school. Along with closing a season comes certain traditions. In Guard they look back on their best moments by passing a ball of yarn in a circle to represent how connected they are. This special tradition allows for the team to connect one last time and look back fondly on the season.

Shayla Christian, a junior, said “The end of the season I guess means to close the show but still remember the chaos that happened from beginning to end.” Looking back on good memories allows for them to see how much they have grown and connected with each other. They also get to discuss the goals that they accomplished together. Shayla added saying,“we ended up getting 3rd but we broke eighty, which is a goal we wanted since the beginning. And I felt more accomplished because the majority of people were new to varsity so it’s cool that we got as far as we could at the end.” Accomplishments like these are what makes the hard work worth it.

Another Junior on Color Guard, Meara Cavanaugh, said “this season has been a huge learning curve for all of us. Those who’ve worked hard behind the scenes and on the floor grew immensely because of many difficult challenges.” Having many new members on Color Guard gave them difficulties, but with the perseverance of a strong team they pushed through these obstacles. Showing definite improvement allows for them to say that they had a successful season. Although this is the end for these Color Guard members, the accomplishments they made will not be forgotten. Meara concluded and said, “For me ending a season is about changing the connection you have with that specific show and group of people from the present to the past. It’s like wrapping up an era of your life.”

The season may be over for them but the connections they built will remain strong.
