Many people would love to win the lottery and become rich. But because the odds are so low, there is almost no chance of winning. How can people manage their money wisely to become rich themself? One Green Hope student has the solution.
Aryan Subhash (‘26) is the president of the Finance and Economics Club (FEC). Subhash states, “The club focuses on developing financial skills through lessons and fun economic-oriented activities.” Because this is his first year as president, the daunting task of leading a club was scary for him at first, but through experience and confidence, he was able to lead the club to success, while developing his leadership skills.
Currently, Subhash is the only upperclassman on the FEC board, so he has to use his seniority and experience to help lead the club. “FEC has taught me a lot about responsibility. You know, not just showing up to meetings, but being prepared to deliver strong and resonating lessons whilst keeping the members engaged,” he said.
One of the most popular activities done in FEC is the Shark Tank project. Shark Tank is a famous TV show that stars six investors or “sharks”, in which upcoming entrepreneurs come to present products for them to invest in. In FEC, the Shark Tank project is a similar replica of this idea. “Club members would create a product and present it to the board members, who acted as the investors. Their goal is to convince the board members to invest in their product, which in the case of FEC, uses candy prizes as a substitute for money,” he said.
The Shark Tank presentations and other activities were some of the ideas that Subhash pitched last year during the board election. Subhash said, “To become a board member, you must win the election for whichever position you are running for. You present your ideas of how to grow the club, and some goals you have in mind to try to convince the club members to vote for you.”
Subhash with all these responsibilities does not feel pressured anymore and loves to come to every meeting with the chance to have some new members. He expressed, “The Finance and Economic club is just an amazing and chill community. I gained a lot of friendships both with the board and the members. I really cherish these connections.”
Aryan Subhash wishes for his club to make a big impact at Green Hope. He said, “Knowing how to handle finances is an important skill that should be taught to everyone. Having the majority of the student body to know this skill will improve Green Hope for the better,” Reflecting over the time he spent in the club, Subhash expressed his desire for the club to continue growing even after he graduates, as “The lessons that are taught teach important skills that are applied throughout people’s lives. I hope whoever continues to club after I graduate is able to carry on the important task of efficiently teaching these skills,” said Subhash.
