Super Bowl Sunday is one of the biggest marketing days of the year. This past Sunday, over 127 million people tuned in for Super Bowl LIX, putting the ad slots in very high demand. This Super Bowl set records, with a 30-second time slot costing, on average, 8 million dollars, not including production costs.
Viewers tuned in expecting to see some of the year’s most creative and clever ads, and this year’s advertisers did not disappoint. The obvious goal of advertising is to sell a company’s goods and services, but this collection of ads also served many different secondary purposes.
Advertisement objectives varied from making the audience laugh to making the audience cry. Below are some of the best and most memorable advertisements from this year’s Super Bowl.

Dunkin Doughnuts (Dunkings II)
Last year one of the most memorable advert moments was when Ben Affleck created a band with Matt Damon, Tom Brady and others. This year a sequel was made with new additions to the band. Ben Affleck returned without Matt and Tom but had no shortage of celebrities starring alongside his brother Casey Affleck and Bill Belichick in the “Java Jam” a coffee-based battle of the bands.
Insta Cart (Commercial mascots parade)
Insta Cart made its Super Bowl debut with the help of various iconic mascots. These Iconic characters included the Pillsbury doughboy, the Old Spice man, Mr. Clean and even Puppy Monkey Baby from the iconic Doritos commercial. The mascots paraded through the streets straight to a customer’s front door to show the appeal of getting groceries through home deliveries.
Budweiser (Clydesdale Horses)
Budweiser Clydesdale Horses made their annual Superbowl ad appearance with a touching story of a young horse who was told he was not yet ready to join the delivery team. When a single keg dropped from the back of the wagon, the young hero rose to the occasion, pushing the lost barrel all the way to the bar. The commercial cleverly ends with the quintessential line, “A horse walks into a bar.”
Uber Eats
Matthew McConnehay outlines his theory that football was invented to sell food. The conspiracy is backed up with appearances by Kevin Bacon, William (Refrigerator) Perry, Martha Stewart and Sean Evans (the host of “Hot Ones” a show where celebrities eat hot wings) eating Buffalo wings.
Michelob Ultra (Pickleball Ad)
Willem Dafoe starred as half a duo of hustlers playing America’s fastest-growing sport. The couple challenges unsuspecting younger sporty couples to pickleball matches, with a wager of Michelob Ultras, instead of money. The audience is treated to scenes in which the older couple smokes their younger opponents again and again.
Hellmons Mayonaise (“I’ll have what she’s having”)
Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal reenacted a famous scene from the 1989 movie, When Harry Met Sally, this time with Meg Ryan getting very excited about Hellmons Mayonaise on her sandwich. Sydney Sweeny, a star from a more current generation, delivered the iconic line, “I’ll have what she’s having.”
Stop Hate
Snoop Dogg has been everywhere in the past year, from hosting interviews during the Olympics to coaching on The Voice. It is not surprising that he also starred in a Super Bowl commercial. Alongside Tom Bradey, he shared the message that hate is unacceptable for any reason.
This year’s Super Bowl commercials had no shortage of entertaining material and this list only scrapes the surface. The Ads from the game continue to run for weeks to come and can be found on various streaming platforms for additional views.
