President Donald J. Trump has made his return to the Oval Office, issuing multiple waves of executive orders. On his first day in office, President Trump passed the “Initial rescissions of harmful executive orders and actions”, an executive order which cancelled over 60 of Former President Joe Biden’s executive orders and 11 presidential memorandums. This is built off of the Trump administration’s claims that the previous party has infected the government with “inflationary, illegal and radical practices”, as outlined in his executive order, and has used his powers as president to reverse their effects.
A few executive orders that President Trump has reversed from the Biden administration have been Executive Order 13988, from the federal register which prevents and combats against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, and Executive Order 13990, which encourages workers and communities to promote and protect public health to combat the climate crisis. President Trump has also revoked Executive Order 14096 that advances environmental justice for all while implementing various civil and environmental laws ensuring everyone has clean air, water and food. After President Trump set up his field of work, he moved on to administering his own Presidential actions.
President Trump has passed a total of 26 executive orders on his first day. A handful of noteworthy orders are titled “Unleashing Alaska’s Extraordinary Resource Potential,” “Securing Our Borders” and “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government.” Unleashing Alaska’s Potential was an executive order passed within the first few hours of his presidency, claiming for the excavation of all the untouched natural resources present there. Untapped sources such as energy, minerals and timber are rooted there.
Securing Our Borders was also passed on President Trump’s first day. He outlines the potential dangers that illegal immigrants may have on American citizens, claiming the spread of deadly drugs and narcotics. The Trump Administration wants to reestablish its borders with a wall to prevent the movement of illegal immigrants into the country. The administration has put the Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, in charge of this operation and deploying soldiers along the border for security.
Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism sets forth that there are only two biological sexes among humans, male and female. President Trump explains in his executive order provided by the White House that transgender women have taken over female spaces, such as women’s restrooms and domestic abuse shelters. His administration claims this to be wrong, and is putting forth efforts to combat this, stating there are only two genders relating to the sex a person is at conception.
President Donald J. Trump’s first few days of presidency have been marked with quick action. He has used his time to dismantle policies set by the previous administration while installing his own to further his vision of a future for the American people.
