Around the Triangle, the Durham Performing Arts Center, better known as the DPAC, is known for its variety of great performances available year round. This coming November, there are going to be 18 different performers appearing at the DPAC. These shows will excite many different demographics, from people who enjoy musicals, to talk shows, to even concerts. No matter if watchers sit at the tippy top off the theater or feet away from the stage, these shows promise to wow the audience.
The first show of the month will stay at the DPAC for six consecutive days, lasting from Oct. 28th to Nov. 2nd; SIX the musical is a popular modernized retelling of the lives of the six wives of Henry the eighth, performed as a pop singing competition. After this broadway show, three different genres of singers will appear; Tye Tribbett, John Fogerty and The Wailin’ Jennys. Known for her sharp witted comedy, Wanda Skyes, accompanied by Keith Robinson, will be performing a comedy special on Nov. seventh.
On the following night, an electrifying mix of classical and hip hop, curated by the Black Violin is set to appear. On Nov. ninth, a crowd immersing talent hosted by the Reality ministry will take place, showcasing both people with and without disabilities.
On Nov. 12th, top billboard country artist Walker Hayes will perform his hit song “Fancy Like” along with many others of his well known songs.

The following evening, the mood switches to the intellectual side of things, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, known for his vast scientific knowledge and in depth explanations of difficult concepts, comes to explain the science behind various well known movies. From Nov.14th to 16th, an inspiring tribute to the story of Tina Turner promises to once again impress watchers with the retelling of Tina Turner’s resilient and brave music career. Labeled “a must see for any rock and metal fan”, the rock orchestra by candlelight return to the US to perform renowned music from Metallica, AC/DC, and many more.
As the season begins to shift, many Christmas themed performances are set to appear, such as A Drag Queen Christmas on Nov. 18th, and A Magical Cirque Christmas on Nov. 19th. The next night, there is a break in the Christmas theme, with a rhythm review by Boz Scaggs, an accredited musical artist. Another event to set the holiday mood, the Mannheim Steamroller Christmas brings more than 20 instruments to dazzle the crowd. Saturday, Nov. 22nd, multitalented artist, Lindsey Stirling brings her holiday tour to DPAC.
Ending the month off, two largely popular Christmas shows appear. The Nutcracker, a beloved ballet show many people see every year, will be at DPAC on November 23rd. A broadway musical adaptation of the hit Christmas movie, Elf, is ending off November’s performances from the 26th to the 29th.
Many students at Green Hope have attended or plan to attend shows at the DPAC. Natalie Fulcher (‘27) has seen four different shows at the venue in the last few years and enjoys it each time, “I enjoy the variety of shows available and the views from each different seat.” Key elements like these make the DPAC a beloved spot of both people in Green Hope and within the community, also creating excitement for these upcoming performances.
The November calendar is packed with an assortment of promising performances. Whether you’re interested in comedy from Wanda Sykes or country music from Walker Hayes, or a holiday show such as The Nutcracker, the DPAC has great options this November. Countless people who have attended the DPAC can attest that the performances will impress.
