Among all other teams in the 919, the Green Hope Women’s tennis team came into its season as the number one seed according to HighSchoolot rankings. After being undefeated last season, the women’s tennis team has returned to the court, back for more. This year’s team is a mix of experienced upperclassmen and competitive underclassmen, yet everyone is determined to leave it all on the court.
Goals for the season have been made clear: to progress in the playoffs and improve upon last year’s regional runner-up title. With them having two to three games per week and balancing school, as well as extracurricular activities, things can be stressful. However, these girls rally through it all and rise to the occasion. Having such a schedule, the team excels in time management. Being focused at school and playing their best right after.

Not only do these girls bring determination and focus to the court, but they also support each other, whether it’s playing their best during a match or celebrating one another. “We’re basically like a family,” Emily Fatal (‘29) states when describing the team.
With 8 games already played, the women’s tennis team has won 6 out of the 8, usually winning by a hefty lead; for instance, the team swept Holly Springs 9-0. The team has 6 more matches to play, with the last one being Willow Spring on September 24.
During the season, all of the matches played against other schools go towards their conference rankings and determine the seeding for the state championships in the postseason. Last year, the team won regional runner-up, placing them fourth in the state and second in the region. This year, they hope to make it even farther in states and win against Panther Creek in their second-to-last match on September 22.
