It’s finally time! With highschools closing for summer break in May and June, more hot weather activities are available. It is time to go outside, dive into the water and enjoy cold drinks.
The Aquatic Management Group (AMG) and Aquatech have their lifeguards ready and pools cleaned for the start of the summer. Some pools have already opened as of last weekend, and others are scheduled to open in coming weeks. Pools that have already opened include Preston Village, Haddon Hall, Amberly, Brookstone, Green Level Crossing and Weldon Ridge. Soon to be opening are Twin Lakes, Greenmoor, Wellesley, Harmony and Brightleaf. Many areas, such as Preston Country Club, open the pool the last Monday of May on Memorial Day.
Swimming is a pleasant activity when it gets warmer. Whether you’re enjoying the sun, hanging out with the people you love and care about, enjoying the components of a fresh fruit picnic or getting a nice tan, pool days bring a special kind of joy.

If one is the more active type, pools have lane lines to swim and do laps. It is a great way to workout, feel refreshed, and definitely an opportunity to take advantage of. Usually pool lanes have volunteers to teach swimming lessons to children, but they can also be used by adults to swim for leisure.
Pools in the area vary but there are various pools with what they include at their facilities. Some vary from their amenities by basketball hoops, diving boards, “deeper ends,” water features for kids, snack bars, kiddie pools and more to enjoy. Wit whatever perks your pool may have, all of the pools have at least trash cans, bathrooms, parks nearby, lost and found baskets, showers, lifeguards, tables and chairs and umbrellas to accommodate visitors
The more kids at the pool, one knows what that means… Summer swim teams are opening too! Every Tuesday there is a meet for kids 5-18 years old. Swim meets are a fun way to bring the community together and something for people to participate from the parents watching their kids or volunteering to a team of youth challenging and having fun together. There are themes every week and even if you don’t participate at all, it is amusing to watch.
One will find that another fun component of pools are ice cream trucks and food trucks provide refreshing drinks and snacks. This is just another great add on to having fun at the pool.
Please remember that sun protection, pool fob, hydration, towels and a fun swimsuit and water toys are important to a good time at the pool. The lifeguards are there to help you and assist in an emergency, just make sure you are still looking out for them. Have a good time while picking up these reminders and enjoy this start to the summer, even if school has not fully ended yet.
