“Guys, what shoes are we wearing this year? Are skinny jeans in or did Alix Earl just wear them once? Is suede the new leather?”
Every year, without fail, new trends emerge into circulation and old trends revive. For many, this can be a lot to keep track of, so the GH Falcon is here to predict the newest upcoming trends for 2025. Be sure to grab these items ahead of the rage before the prices start to rise!
Cherry red: Though mocha mousse brown was named the “color of the year” by Pantone, cherry red is predicted by many to be immensely more popular than the drab brown shade. This shade has already been all over people’s Pinterest boards, inspiring many stylish outfits. According to Pinterest Predicts, the search term “cherry vibe” rose 325% this year, while “dark cherry red” surged 235%. Some celebrities, including Lily Collins, Zendaya and Tom Holland have recently sported this signature color.
Structured, knee-high boots: While tall boots have always been in fashion, those in the fold-over style have been all the rage recently. It’s predicted that their current popularity is only the beginning, as they offer a chic way to blend vintage elegance with a modern edge. As fashion leans more towards statement footwear, this bold option will be perfect for daytime, evening wear, and even more high-fashion looks. Paired with a mini skirt or dress and an oversized shirt, coat, or blazer, these are the perfect dramatic flair to add to your outfit.
Mini shorts: For some, an eccentric mini short could be the new mini skirt. As fashion continues to embrace nostalgic, bold Y2K styles and short hemlines, it’s predicted these will make a comeback in both casual and high-fashion settings. Celebrities and influencers style them with oversized shirts, crop tops, blazers and tall boots. The wide variety of styles available has led many people to don them for concerts or nights out. Their imminent popularity will coincide with both the rise of athleisure and comfortable, form-fitting clothing and rising temperatures as we head into summer. Heuritech, a fashion analytic organization, predicts an overall increase of 21% in this item from April to September of 2025 compared to the previous year.
Polka dots: Fashion experts expect to see spots this year as polka dots are expected to revive in a new, fresh way. Often thought of as a stiff design, many predict that these will begin to embody a younger feel. While this print was popular in the ‘20s, ‘50s and ‘90s, it reemerged as the “European Summer” aesthetic became widespread. They are appearing more on runaways, award shows and red-carpet events. Chic polka dot swimsuits, dresses, headscarves, handbags and slingback heels will have their moment in 2025.
Elevated and Cute Sportswear: While it’s no secret that sports have influenced fashion for years, the line between fitness and style is becoming increasingly blurred. For the spring and summer, it’s predicted that more feminine sports like pilates, yoga and ballet will considerably influence fashion looks. Fashion houses such as Casablanca and Ferragamo have recently reimagined activewear with luxurious fabrics and lively color palettes, as they send their models down the runway. Heuritech also predicts a 25% increase in the popularity of sweatpants for spring 2025 compared to the previous year. Some style them with heels and a bag to achieve an effortless and innovative “on-the-go” aesthetic, while others prefer the classic sporty edge this item gives their outfits.
Feminine polo shirts/button-downs: For decades, the polo shirt has been a staple in men’s fashion; however, we see it being reenvisioned into a more feminine version. Shying away from the traditional boxy silhouette, brands such as Brandy Melville released women’s polo shirts with shorter sleeves and a more tailored, structured look. Heuritech predicts we will see a more significant rise in this item overseas, as Europe should see a 33% increase during the first half of the year. This more fitted cut should soon make its way into consumers’ closets as the new look of this once-sporty garment will surely turn it into a staple item.
Upcycled clothing : Coinciding with an increase in environmental awareness and trending phrases like #deinfluencing, it’s predicted that more upcycled clothing will be seen in the coming year. Brands such as Miu Miu released upcycled collections in 2024, and yet the demand for this clothing will only continue to grow. As more designers realize the vitality of having sustainability at the front lines of fashion, stunning designs are expected to take a more eco-friendly approach. There are a growing number of tutorials on platforms such as YouTube and TikTok for those looking to tailor a thrift find, create new tops out of scrap fabric or upcycle old pieces into a trendy new outfit.
Bag charms and clothing trinkets: On platforms like TikTok, many content creators make videos decorating their designer bags by attaching large amounts of leather, plastic or metal bag charms. Deemed by some as “rage bait” and others as “trailblazing,” bag decorating habits will surely soar in the near future. Though some will take the minimalist route and others the maximalist, everyone can surely bond over their love of personalizing their favorite purses. As people experiment more with their accessories, it’s predicted that clothing charms will also become popular in the upcoming year. Adding trinkets and charms onto clothes is a great way to upcycle old jewelry, fabric, and hair accessories into fun charms.
