With the calendar turning to 2025, it is time to look back at the impressive seasons of Green Hope’s All-State athletes. According to HighSchoolOT, the Falcons had six athletes named to All-State teams including two first-teamers.
First Team
Taylor Bruce- Taylor Bruce (‘26) plays setter and opposite hitter for Green Hope. Bruce leads the team in kills per set with 4.2, hitting percentage with 0.267, blocks with 40 and kills with 335. For kills, she is first in Green Hope’s Southwest Wake 4A conference, fifth in division 4A East and fifty-fifth in North Carolina. She is ninety-fourth in North Carolina for hitting percentage (total kills – total errors then divided by total attempts). Bruce was awarded player of the match in four games this past season for her stellar performances and is already committed to the University of Georgia for volleyball.
Green Hope women’s volleyball team ended a successful season on October 26, 2024, averaging an 83% win percentage with a 20-4 record. The team was 11-3 in their conference, landing them a second-place ranking and 15th in the state. The team put up an impressive fight throughout the season, losing to Green Level in the third round of finals.
Jacob Colberg- Jacob Colberg (‘25) Captained and played the forward position for Green Hope soccer. Colberg led the team’s stats with 56 shots taken, 20 assists and 28 goals total this season. He finished his career with an impressive 42 goals and 31 assists, the first Falcon to accumulate 40 goals and 30 assists since 2018. Colberg ranked fourth in the 4A East in points and goals and led the conference in assists. He also scored a goal in each of the last four playoff games and converted his PK in the shootout of their final game while battling a quad injury.
Colberg led the team to the east regional finals of the playoffs and finished the season 11-3, placing 2nd in the conference. The boy’s soccer team ended the season ranked fourth in the state and 43 in the country.
Second Team
Brianna Stewart- Captain Brianna Stewart (‘26) plays tennis for Green Hope, playing for the #1 singles and #1 doubles teams, signifying her position as one of the best players on the team. She posted a singles record of 7-5 and a doubles record of 14-6 with an impressive overall record of 21-11 for her season, winning some tough matches to achieve this.
Green Hope put up a stellar performance during the season, going 21-1 overall and posting an undefeated record in conference, going 14-0 and taking first in the Southwest Wake 4A Conference. Against these conference teams, they had stellar performances, beating some teams by significant amounts and winning nail biters in others They were runner-ups in the NC Class 4A East, putting up a strong performance.
Adam Granai- Adam Granai (‘26) anchored the defense, stopping a signifigant amount of shots on goal, which led to 35 goals scored against Green Hope, in relation to the 104 goals scored for Green Hope. Adam Granai was captain as a junior and has been a pivotal member of the varsity defense since his freshman year.
The back line of the Green Hope soccer team stayed strong during their 5-game playoff run, allowing 5 goals while the offense scored 22 goals. Overall the defense successfully ended the season with 9 shutout victories including a mercy rule win in the third round of the playoffs.
Third Team
Chloe Burbage- A crucial asset to the team’s success, Chloe Burbage (‘28) led Green Hope’s offense with a successful 20-4 record this volleyball season. The freshman setter ranked first in the Southwest Wake 4A conference for assists and serving aces, with a count of 854 and 50 respectively. Her assist count put her above all other freshmen statewide, averaging 10.1 per set. As for awards, Burbage received player of the match in two games this season, including the teams match against Broughton on August 13, 2024, as well as against Cary High on October 10, 2024. She was also named MaxPreps freshman all-American.
Marlo Arndts- Green Hope sophomore Marlo Arndts (‘27) put up an incredible performance this golf season, averaging 39.9 strokes per 9 holes, the best at Green Hope. Arndts shot a season-best of 37 strokes to place first at the MacGregor Downs SWAC match on September 23. Marlo placed 12th at the 4A state championship, shooting 75 on both days. She had the second-best score among sophomores at the match.
During the team’s nine conference matches, Green Hope placed second 3 times and third 4 times in multi-team matches. The team finished with an average of 44.2 strokes per 9 holes and an 18-hole average of 87.6 strokes.
