Gather your closest friends and set a date for a Thanksgiving-themed meal without the pressures of traveling and seeing family you haven’t seen in forever (or simply don’t like). The GH Falcon has compiled a step-by-step guide to help make the perfect Friendsgiving for you and your close companions, this holiday season.
Find friends who want to spend time with you
The holidays are meant to be filled with friends and joy. Try finding some friends who will care enough to share a meal with you, and if you can’t, fake it till you make it! As they always say, keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Be sure to set a time and date and the later you plan for them to come over the earlier and quicker they will get out of your hair!
Cook something that doesn’t taste borderline expired
This isn’t your grandmother’s house; you should try cooking something that didn’t expire in 2014 or at least tastes like it didn’t. Even though your friend might not be picture-perfect you still need a group to hang out with daily, try keeping them alive through the night if possible, so ensure the food is up-to-date.
Coerce your friends into eating it
Let’s be honest: nobody is gonna want your nasty food for leftovers or want it stinking up their fridge. You must ensure all the food is gone by the time dinner ends. Add some seasoning to mask the nasty flavor of your food this holiday season. Your friends in the end will thank you, and the spicier it is the more upset their gut will be and the sooner they will be out of your house.
Pretend you’re thankful for them
Remember, the whole purpose of this holiday is to be thankful. Even if you’re gratefulness is a lie, be reminded that the winter holidays are around the corner and your present list still has unclaimed items. Want to take it even further? Go around the table saying what you’re thankful for, making sure to be a phony. Those friends may be working on your list shortly.
Have dessert
Since none of your friends are sweet, you may want to try filling them up with some sugar, spice and everything nice. Having a large variety of sweets will keep tensions at bay and guarantees that all in attendance can enjoy something sweet to conclude the night with.
All jokes aside, the true meaning of Friendsgiving is to have a good home-cooked meal with all the friends you love and care about, while enjoying each other’s company, and sharing what we are truly thankful for in one another. Of course, you can’t forget to get a couple of cute pictures to post to Instagram about your fall night of food and excitement.
