Since 1910, Boy Scouts of America (BSA), has taught youth skills they can use throughout their lives. In 2019, BSA changed their name to Scouts BSA after they began allowing female scouts in gender specific troops. The objective of Scouts BSA was to teach young men and women character, citizenship, personal fitness and leadership.
Eagle scout is the highest rank attainable in Scouts BSA. This rank can only be accomplished after one completes all of the preceding ranks: scout, tenderfoot, second class, first class, star and life. To earn the eagle scout rank, a scout must be a life scout for at least six months, serve in a leadership position for six months, receive a total of 21 merit badges and direct a service project.
Many prominent eagle scouts have made a positive impact at Green Hope by directing service projects at the school. The GH Falcon interviewed five former and current students about their eagle scout projects.
