High-level competition, an exciting atmosphere for both players and spectators and opportunities to meet other Pokémon fans. The Pokémon Regional Championship is three to four events and one or two special events. North America, however, gets 20+ regional events every season.
Competitors in the championships play Pokémon TCG, Pokémon video games and Pokémon GO to gain points based on how well the trainers compete. Points from only a limited number of each type of Pokémon event are counted, known as the best finish limit, which determines if players join the World Championship competition. Championship points cannot be used across event types, which means, for example, that competitors cannot use championship points earned at the Pokémon video game regional championships to gain entry to the Pokémon TCG world championships.
Championship points are earned when competing in the championship series events. Pokémon TCG is a card game where competitors “battle” with cards, using Pokémon attacks, energies, tools, trainers and more to get the victory. Pokémon video games include Pokémon Champion, Pokémon Z-A, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and Pokémon GO. Competitors with enough championship points can get invited to the annual championship. Championship points are awarded by events, so bigger events receive more championship points, while smaller events receive fewer.
To qualify for the very competitive World Championship, competitors must receive a certain amount of points., Many people are battling for championship points and incredible prizes, and can qualify for the Pokémon World Championships event. The championship series invites Pokémon trainers and fans of all skill levels to take part in the fun.
Players compete in a rating zone, which is a region where they can play to earn championship points. Competitors qualify for travel to international championship events based on their performance and championship points standing in their home rating zone. The current rating zones are North America, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East & South Africa and Oceania. Pokémon Unite uses different rating zones, which are Brazil, Europe, Latin America North, Latin America South, North America and Oceania. Players in Japan, South Korea, mainland China and the Asia Pacific region will be awarded world championship invitations as per their regions’ organized play and esports programs.
The Pokémon Regional Championships are a competitive and yet fun competition, where players strive in different events to reach a higher goal. Each competitor is on a journey to find out who wants to be the very best.
