A senior timeline: The last year ahead for the Class of 2026

Homecoming spirit week was held from Sept. 22 to Sept. 26, with Green Hope’s homecoming football game against Apex on Sept. 26. The spirit week themes this year were Duo Day, Pajama Day, Jersey Day and Green Hope colors. Seniors were decked out in black on theme for the Pep Rally and the Homecoming football game that Friday.

Seniors celebrated their last homecoming on Sept. 27, 2025 this year. The theme of this homecoming was Under the Sea. Senior Ian House (‘26) says that he looks forward to being a part of the homecoming atmosphere one last time and being able to spend time with his friends in a space that fosters his pride to be a falcon.

Senior nights offer senior athletes the opportunity to be recognized for their efforts and contributions to Green Hope’s sports community. Tennis hosted their night on Sept. 18, 2025, marking the first senior night at Green Hope for this school year. Volleyball seniors will be celebrating their seniors on Oct. 9, 2025 against Green Level High School. Cross Country hopes to celebrate their seniors at their SWAC meet on Oct. 9, 2025 as well. Soccer will be recognizing their seniors on Oct. 16, 2025 at a game against Panther Creek High School. Lastly, the football, cheer, dance and athletic training teams will be honoring their seniors on Oct. 17, 2025 during their last football game at home against Willow Spring High School. Senior nights for winter and spring season sports will be announced at the beginning of their seasons.

The pep rally is a spirited event that was held the Friday of the Homecoming football game, generating excitement and enthusiasm within the student body. Students had the opportunity to celebrate their school sports teams, while athletes got recognition for their efforts during the season. This year, seniors wore black to represent their grade level on the last day of Homecoming spirit Week.

Field Day is a PTSA conducted event that involves seniors participating in games, eating snacks and spending time with their friends outside of Green Hope at a field. This event is usually conducted during the school day but has not been confirmed for this school year yet. The location and date for this has not yet been determined, but it typically happens during the Spring semester.
Senior breakfast is another PTSA planned event that offers seniors the opportunity to spend a morning with their peers on a school day while enjoying breakfast items. This typically happens earlier in a school day towards the end of the year, and students often look forward to taking in the community spirit of their graduating class once more.

Senior sunset includes the senior class gathering to watch the sunset at a local field, marking the conclusion of the high school journey. It’s a time for pictures and games, but often includes food and other social activities as well. Senior sunset traditions vary every school year, but most students have an enjoyable time regardless.

Prom is a high school dance usually held in May that upperclassmen at Green Hope attend. Students tend to spend the day of Prom taking pictures, having dinner with their friends and attending the dance typically held at Sheraton in Raleigh. Underclassmen can attend the event as long as they fill out the form and have an upperclassmen accompany them throughout the dance as well. Students usually start planning their plans for prom early in the spring, making it one of the biggest events during the Spring semester.

High school graduation marks the end of mandatory public school education and happens in June when the school year is completed. The Class of 2026 will be awarded with their high school diploma and cords that celebrate their achievement while being dressed in their graduation gown and cap. This will take place in the Raleigh Convention center in downtown Raleigh. Dates for rehearsal, and graduation will be announced towards the end of the school year.
