With a strong start for many teams in the first two weeks of the NFL football season, the GH Falcon took a look at some early predictions for this year’s super bowl contenders. With powerhouse quarterbacks, strong defensive lineups and a thrilling fan base, these teams are ready to tackle the season.
Buffalo Bills
After a strong start to the season, the Bills have been widely cited as the current favorites to win the Super Bowl. The Bills have been waiting for their opportunity for years now, and this year might be their best shot. Quarterback Josh Allen, who won MVP last year, is now one of the most dangerous quarterbacks in the league. The Bills began their season with a 41-40 comeback victory against the Baltimore Ravens. Josh Allen was a key factor, with 424 total yards and four touchdowns. The Bills offense has been highly efficient, ranking first in total yards through the first two weeks of the season. The Bills have been a consistent playoff team in recent years, winning the AFC East division five times.
Kansas City Chiefs
Despite an uncharacteristic 0-2 start, the Chiefs are still viewed as a contender due to their talent and history. The Chiefs have made an appearance at the last five super bowls and have won three out of the five. Patrick Mahomes has thrown for 445 yards and two touchdowns. He is currently the team’s leading rusher with 123 yards and two rushing touchdowns. They are ranked 17th in the league in both passing and rushing yards per game and 24th in points scored per game. The Chiefs are facing a few significant issues with wide receivers. Rashee Rice is serving a six-game suspension and Xavier Worthy suffered a shoulder injury in Week 1, putting the Chiefs at a disadvantage.
Philadelphia Eagles
As the defending champions and with a 2-0 start to the season, the Eagles are considered a strong contender to repeat. Jalen Hurts continues to be the leader of the offense. He has three rushing touchdowns and is the team’s leading scorer so far. Saquon Barkley is leading the team in rushing yards and all-purpose yards. He was also ranked #1 in the “NFL Top 100 Players of 2025.” The Eagles offensive line remains one of the best in the league, with top players like Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata. The team’s defense, including Jalen Carter, is also making strong plays. The eagles are starting off strong, however their game against the Cowboys and the late-season matchup against the Bills could have major playoff implications.
Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens, with quarterback Lamar Jackson, are seen as one of the elite teams in the AFC and a major threat. They have started the 2025 season with a 1-1 record, and are considered one of the top teams in the AFC. They suffered a 41-40 loss against the Buffalo Bills in week one. Lamar Jackson continues to be the center of the Ravens offense and the addition of running back Derrick Henry has given the Ravens a powerful running attack. He is the team’s leading rusher and a key component of their offense.Their upcoming schedule includes a Monday night game against the Detroit Lions, and a game against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4.
As we come into week 3, these teams are ready to compete for their spot in both the playoffs and super bowl. Questions about injuries and consistency within these teams will ultimately be the true test of who wins the Lombardi trophy.
