The Green Hope Falcons football team is starting off strong this season, with a record of two wins and zero losses. The team’s journey so far has been marked by strong offensive and defensive plays, as well as focusing on building a community within the team.
Coach Johnson points to the team’s chemistry as a major factor in their undefeated start. “We focus a lot on our character building and have been very intentional about building our culture. The guys believe in each other and have trust,” Johnson says.

Players also share their sentiment about how the season is going so far. They emphasize that their success this season has been about growing with the team. Captain Jacob Brown discusses the encouragement from his coaches and teammates on and off the field. “Just the encouragement and positivity around all of them, they just help me in every aspect of the game.” Similarly, quarterback Nick Goulet adds, “My teammates and coaches have helped me become a better player during practices and games.” It’s Jack Trainor’s first year on the Green Hope football team, and he explained how his teammates have helped him become a better person. Trainor says, “All these guys out here have helped me progress a lot as a player.”
Coach Johnson explains all of the work done in the off-season to not only encourage leadership from the players but also to build a strong program that the players are proud to be a part of. He explains, “During the off-season, we had smart lunches and we talked about what it meant to be a leader.” Johnson describes how the team has learned how to be coachable and hold each other accountable.
Looking ahead, the team is not just focused on maintaining its undefeated record but also on continuing to grow as a unit. Going into their game against Athens Drive on September 5, Coach Johnson explains his goals: “To come out with a lot of energy and to learn from the mistakes we’ve made in the first two weeks and to continue to get better, that’s the trend we want to continue.” With a winning record, a supportive coaching staff, and a tight-knit group of players, the Green Hope Falcons are ready for a season to remember.
