The Keseya Center held its annual UFC event in Miami, Florida, and it did not disappoint. Regarding the fighters on the card and the performances, UFC 314 is the best card in 2025, from Dominick Reyes dominating to open the main card to Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes battling out in a championship thriller.
Dominick Reyes and Nikita Krylov kicked off the main card with a bang. Krylov entered this fight with a 30-10-0 record and a three-fight win streak, including a knockout victory over Alexander Gustafsson. Reyes entered the bout with back-to-back victories, both being via knockout. Reyes made quick work of Krylov and dominated the fight, knocking him out halfway through the first round.
The following fight was between Bryce Mitchell and Jean Silva. These two fighters caught the spotlight during the pre-fight press conference. Silva and Mitchell were having a back-and-forth insult session and making remarks about each other. The fans were entertained by this fight, and a lot of hype surrounded these two fighters going into Saturday. During the fight, Mitchell was very aggressive in trying to take down Jean Silva, but Silva stuffed 13/14 takedown attempts, leading to Silva dominating both on the ground and on his feet. Silva ended the fight by submitting Mitchell in the second round via guillotine choke.
Yair Rodriguez sent a message to the featherweight division after his dominating win over Patricio Pitbull. Rodriguez was a former interim champion after defeating Josh Emett a few years back in Perth, Australia. He then lost the belt when he was defeated by Alexander Volkanovski. Yair Rodriguez dominated throughout the fight and went on to win via unanimous decision over Pitbull. Patricio Pitbull has ways to go, as this is his first ever fight in the UFC after leaving Bellator as a champion. The expectation is that Pitbull will return and make a comeback.
The co-main event featured Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett and “Iron” Michael Chandler in a five-round bout. Chandler is considered one of the most entertaining fighters in the UFC, as he always puts on a show. Even when he loses, the fans enjoy his toughness and his heart when he steps into the octagon. Pimblett is part of the next generation of fighters and has impressed ever since he has been in the UFC. Pimblett is 7-0 since he has been in the UFC and has gotten a submission or knockout in five of his seven fights in the UFC. The scouser has shown impressive grappling ability and improved striking as his time in the UFC has gone on. Pimblett dominated Chandler the whole fight and finished Chandler in the third round via TKO. Chandler has always made his fights close and entertaining, but Paddy Pimblett did not allow Chandler to do anything as Pimblett was very clinical on the ground and pound, which led to him forcing a stoppage. Pimblett is now 8-0 and is getting closer to a title shot.
Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes ended the night going the distance of five rounds. Volkanovski is arguably the G.O.A.T. of the Featherweight division, as he holds the record for the longest-tenured champion of the division. Diego Lopes has shown dominance and promise since he stepped foot into the UFC. Lopes has won multiple fights via knockout and was deserving of a title shot. Lopes got off to a slow start and lost the first two rounds of the fight. Volkanovski then had a good round three but had a scare in round three when Lopes knocked him down late. Lopes then hurt Volk in round four, but Volkanovski took control of the fight and won the featherweight title via Unanimous decision.
