Men’s Golf tee’d off Tuesday in their first of eight matches, securing a first-place finish. Green Hope is ranked first in conference play led by James Rico and Quin Polin, who Coach Denton believes are “some of the best players in the state.” Last year, they had a solid year finishing top five in the conference, but this year, their goals are set high.

The GH Falcon was able to talk to Head Men’s Golf Coach, Nathaniel Denton, who said, ”The goal for our team this year is to win the State Championship. The conference realignment will also help in that we will have some stronger programs to see on a consistent basis.” So far, they’ve come out on top finishing first out of all the teams in the conference as of March 1st, which can hopefully carry into the rest of their season.

Men’s Golf has two new additions to aid in this goal, freshman Evan Suddreth and Junior Shlok Jain, who moved here from India to play golf. Shlok was ranked fifth nationally in India and moved to the states to pursue his dreams of playing golf competitively. He has plenty of goals for himself and the team as he says he’s “looking forward to representing Green Hope and contributing to the team.” He also feels very positive about the team’s chance at states, saying,” We are stronger than ever, so our goal is to become the state champions this year.”

Shlok and the team will play again on Friday at 12:00 pm at Clayton and will have six more until they play in the conference championship on April 25.
