Jack D’Agostin sat down with the Green Hope Falcon to discuss his recent commitment to Hampden-Sydney College. He began his journey in the sixth grade, and as a midfielder, versatility, stick speed and strength are his forte. He delved into differing aspects of his commitment in his interview.
D’Agostin has big plans with both lacrosse and personal goals. He knows exactly where he wants to go and what he wants to do. When asked about his future, he said, “I’m going to play at Hampden-Sydney and I plan on joining the military afterward.” His current practice discipline shows his preparedness for college and the military. His training plan, in addition to school practices, includes “conditioning, running, going to the gym and getting stronger, making sure I have the stick in my hands to keep my stick skills up.” Covering all bases, D’Agostin shows how ready he is for his future.
With any goal, there is always someone who inspires. Whether it is a parent or someone in that specific field, it helps to have someone to show the way. D’Agostin gave some insight into his favorite lacrosse player. “My favorite lacrosse player I’d say is Ryan Denner. He’s a pro lacrosse player and I just like the way he plays.”
Committing to a college is a life-changing decision, especially for student-athletes. D’Agostin spoke on both the academic and athletic reasoning behind his decision and why he chose Hampden-Sydney, saying “It’s very competitive academically and on the lacrosse field, I think it’s my best fit, love the coaching staff and love the players there.”
Clearly a great match for Hampden-Sydney, D’Agostin has one more season to enjoy at Green Hope High School. When asked what he was looking forward to in his final year, he said he wanted to “enjoy it with some of my best friends and hopefully going off with a playoff run.”
As D’Agostin’s journey at Green Hope nears the end, a new one will begin for him at Hampden-Sydney. While playing for the Tigers, he will further his education and lacrosse ability, reaching heights he one day dreamed of.
