School is nearing its end. After finals, the busy weeks spent studying can be spent on fun activities. With so much free time, one might question how to pass the time. Many people choose to go on vacations. However, not all vacations have to break the bank! To help, the GH Falcon has comprised a list of cheap summer vacations:
Myrtle Beach
If one is looking for a relaxing day at the beach then look no further than Myrtle Beach. Myrtle Beach is one of the most popular beaches on the East Coast. The beach is known for its nice boardwalks and golf courses. It is also home to one of the tallest Ferris wheels in the United States. Additionally, the beach is within driving distance, making it cheaper than traveling somewhere else by air. Many of the activities at Myrtle Beach are usually low cost and some, like strolling along the beach, are free.
Glacier National Park
Glacier National Park is a popular location for hiking enthusiasts. With its amazing views and long hikes, it’s easy to see what makes it special. Usually, a trip to Glacier National Park would cost around $889 for one person and $1,779 for two. However, the park has multiple options that help visitors cut down on costs. One way is to rent a camping site instead of a lodge. Lodging at Glacier National Park costs around $128-200 per night. On the other hand, campsite fees cost $10-23 per night, which is a fraction of the cost of the lodging. Paired with the park entrance fee of $35 dollars, makes for an affordable experience with gorgeous views. Be sure to pack food as many of the trails at Glacier National Park do not have sites selling food.
Washington, D.C.
Interested in historic monuments? Well Washington, D.C. could be the place you’re looking for. It is the capital of the United States, making for a great tourist destination for history enthusiasts. From the National Museum of African American History and Culture to the National Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. has a variety of museums. In fact, there are 22 Smithsonian museums that have no entrance fee!
Moab
If one is looking for an adventurous trip and a change of scenery, then a trip to Moab is a match made in heaven. Located in Utah, Moab is a large area with sand mountains and rock formations that one can traverse. Also, the two neighboring national parks provide a variety of landscapes. Additionally, there are many cabins and campsites in the area that are cheaper than other housing options.
