Green Hope Indoor Track athletes finished the season on a high note, demonstrating strong results at the New Balance Nationals Indoor in Boston, Massachusetts, over the weekend of March 9 through March 12.

In the men’s 4×800 meter relay, Dax Mahone (‘24), Andrew Vo (‘23), Gavin Hansen (‘23) and Sebastian Percival-Shim (‘24) placed seventh and set a new personal record.

Seamus O’Driscoll (‘25), Andrew Vo, Gavin Hansen, and Sebastian Percival-Shim made the podium in the Distant Medley Relay and placed fifth.

Owen Zalc (‘23), Kaiden Granko (‘23), Christian Wright (‘23) and Andrew Vo beat their seedtime and the 4×400 meter relay team of Andrew Vo, Owen Zalc, Christian Wright, and Sebastian Percival-Shim placed 12th with a new personal record of 3:26.03.

Setting another new personal record, the 4×200 meter relay team of Owen Zalc, Kaiden Granko, Sean Hill (‘26), and Christian Wright are now third on Green Hope’s all time fastest record.

Hansen made the podium with a sixth place finish in the 3200 meter run, and set a new personal and school record with a time of 9:30.62.

The girls 4×200 meter relay team is sixth on Green Hope’s all time fastest, with Lilah Dailey, Corinne Issacs, Hanna Lee, and Emeli Tarpy breaking another personal record.

Runners from the team shared highlights from their experiences. Corinne Issacs (‘25) said, “My favorite part of the experience was probably being able to spend time with my friends in Boston. When we weren’t racing, we would [explore] the surrounding area or watch other runners from all over the U.S. run, which was a lot of fun.”

“My favorite part was running on a banked track for the first time and having new competitors to race against,” said Hansen.

The runners also celebrated their hard-earned achievements, including breaking several personal records. “I am most proud of qualifying for nationals in the 4×200 meter relay,” said Issacs. “It felt good knowing that our work during practices and other meets paid off.”

Hansen, on the other hand, didn’t have any significant accomplishments in mind. “If I had to say one though, I would say breaking the indoor school record in the 3200 [meter run],” said Hansen.

Despite their successful season, the team pushes further for improvement before next season. Issacs said, “I hope to improve my speed as well as my endurance.”

With several seniors, underclassmen on the team look to rigorous training and improvement to step into the shoes of their graduating upperclassmen.
