Over the summer, Green Hope’s basketball star Abigail Brown (‘25) committed to Lenoir-Rhyne University. Lenoir-Rhyne is a Division II school located in Hickory, North Carolina. Abigail Brown said she picked Lenoir-Rhyne University because she felt valued as a player, she loved the campus, and the people that go there were very friendly.
When asked how she trains Abigail Brown said, “I got to the gym daily to shoot, making around 500 shots every time to keep up my game.” This intense training regimen allows her to keep ahead of the others in the game and is likely the reason she dominated last year. She also goes to the gym to work out.
Last year in the 2024 season, Abigail Brown led in 10 out of the 13 major stats on the Green Hope team according to MaxPreps. Some of these stats include: points per game (PPG), she averaged 16.4 ppg; field goal percentage (FG%), she averaged 41 FG%; rebounds per game (REB/G), she averaged 12.2 REB/G; steals per game (STL/G), she averaged 1.6 STL/G and points (PTS), she had 361 PTS over the season. Brown led 4A East in rebounds per game and double doubles. She was also fifth in blocks per game and 14th in points per game.
Abigail Brown was introduced to basketball at a young age by her father Clarence Brown, a professional basketball player. She stated that this is what motivates her to play and stick to it throughout the years. She is motivated to reach her goals and continues her career because of her love for the game. Her motivation and intensity drive her playstyle and separate her from other players on the court.
Abigail Brown is a competitive player with a competitive mindset that she brings to the court. Her favorite part about playing basketball is the competition she shares with other players at a high level. When asked what her plans after college, Brown said “I’ll see where I go after college, maybe playing overseas.”
Brown enters her senior year looking to lead the team while playing for the team’s new coach. She is looking to the future but will still cherish her last year as a Green Hope falcon.
